One of the hardest jobs on the planet is being a Mom. Ask any Mom and they’ll tell you that. When balancing a business also, the stress becomes tenfold.
Your time as a Mom is in such high demand from so many areas–the kids’ schedule, the family budget, meals, exercise, your spouse/partner, house maintenance, hobbies, friends, running your business–and there is just 24 hours in a day, 365 days a year! With the holiday season in full swing right now, you can add even more to your list of time demands, such as gift shopping, gift wrapping, planning, hosting and attending parties. I’m sure I’m leaving a few other activities off… in fact, let me know your list of time demands in the comments section below.
Finding time to relax a bit and recharge is so important to being the best Mom, wife, friend and Mompreneur you can be. But how do you do that when you’re juggling so many hats? Here are five tips that will cost you little to nothing money-wise and so much in benefits! Take these steps to inner peace and relaxation.
Take 10. This is a fabulous exercise to do when you’re experiencing negative feelings. Stop what you’re doing, close your eyes and take 10 deep cleansing breathes. You’ll feel more relaxed and whatever it is that was bothering you before won’t seem so bad. Your mind will be more clear and you can handle things more objectively.
Retreat. Take a mini-vacation from life and find a quiet place in your home, away from the kids, away from your spouse or partner, away from your business, and enjoy the quiet. If you do this when it’s not so quiet in your home, get some headphones to turn out the outside noise and listen to your inner noise.
Smile and Laugh. Laughter really can be the best medicine of all sometimes. Especially when you have alot of things stressing you out. The holidays can certainly be stressful for many of us! Read a joke book, watch the Comedy Channel on TV or watch curl up on the couch with your family and enjoy your favorite comedy movie!
Get moving. Go for a stroll outside and enjoy the beauty of your surroundings. Exercise will not only benefit you physically, but it can have a very positive impact on you mentally by helping you to relax more.
Bathe by candlelight. Get the scented candles out and turn your bathroom into an oasis. Run the hot water, drop in some bubbles or oil, sit back, close your eyes and let the hot water and smells totally relax you. Just don’t turn into a prune.:)
